Dissemination

Throughout the project's three-year duration, the SPEAR consortium actively shared its findings with the broader research and industrial communities. Partners presented results at international conferences, published in peer-reviewed journals, and contributed to standardisation efforts around energy simulation in production environments.

Conference Presentations and Events

Beyond formal publications, the consortium presented results and progress at a number of high-profile events:

Automatica 2018, Munich (June 2018)

FFT's SPEAR use case was showcased at Automatica, one of the premier trade fairs for smart automation and robotics, attracting over 43,000 visitors from around the world.

Eureka Innovation Days 2018, Helsinki (May 2018)

The project team participated in the Eureka Innovation Days event in Helsinki, engaging with over 900 attendees and presenting early results in the Smart Energy and Smart Industry tracks.

Smart City Expo World Congress 2019, Barcelona (November 2019)

The SPEAR team was present at the ITEA booth during the Smart City Expo in Barcelona, demonstrating the platform's capabilities to an international audience of city planners, technology providers, and policy makers.

Eureka Global Innovation Summit 2022, Estoril (June 2022)

The consortium received the Eureka Innovation Award for "Best Sustainability Innovation" at the Summit in Estoril, Portugal, highlighting the lasting impact of the project's results.

Standardisation Contributions

The project also contributed to ongoing standardisation efforts. By adopting and extending the Functional Mock-up Interface (FMI) standard for energy model exchange, the consortium helped advance interoperability in industrial simulation toolchains. The open-source release of core optimisation algorithms after project completion further extended the accessibility of SPEAR's results to the wider engineering community.
